The Tree of Life
Woodcut, ink on paper, 8" x 10"This series of 26 was carved into an 8" x 10" piece of Shino plywood and hand printed in the traditional Japanese way on thin watercolor paper. The design is inspired by a fusion of cultures, using shapes from northwest coast form-line design on the traditionally Mexican concept of the Tree of Life. I designed and carved this block during the last few weeks of my 6-year college career to give thanks to the people who'd been the greatest support during my journey thus far, printing 26 for each year of my life. I didn't give them all away and have a few quality prints left for sale. Each print is a unique expression of the printing process, and thus all prints are a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
