Monoprint, ink on paper, 11" x 14"

Monoprints can mimick characteristics of the more traditional forms of printmaking, but the process only produces one (mono) print. Therefore, each monoprint is a unique work of art. Ink is applied to the "plate", or sheet of Plexiglas, and then a thin sheet of watercolor paper is pressed down on top. Different techniques of ink application are applied to the plate and then printed several time to create each print. The result is usually unpredictable, offering up a spontaneous expression of the moment and the application of the materials.
